Very pretty, self charging when placed in sun, different modes with user controls, can turn off when not in use. These are very pretty! I love the difference from regular bulbs.The orbs are plastic and full of little bubbles that add dimension and they just look very nice. The solar panels sat out in the sun for a day and then we brought them inside and covered the panel, turned it on and we were all delighted with the result! The lights have several different modes that are controlled with a button behind the solar panel.The first mode when you turn it on will rotate through all the modes without you having to push the button. We let the panels sit inside in the dark all day with the lights off and then when we turned them on the lights were bright and pretty as when just charged so the panels hold charge well. The lights themselves are bright nearer the source and then diffuse throughout the orbs, so while the light is more muted than some lights, it gives a unique and pretty overall look. This in no way detracts from the lighting effect! It gives out great light. The color is a pretty purple. We ran the lights for 12 hrs on a full charge, they didn't even get dim and didn't get warm to the touch. I love these, they would be great for a porch area or even inside with the solar panel set in a window for sun exposure during the day. These lights exceeded our expectations!
